C8 at Midway Chevrolet, Phoenix - 08-24-2019
Lucy and I went to Midway Chevrolet today for the C8 unveiling. Lots of fun; we ran into Frank and a few other friends, and made new Corvette friends whom we hope to see again.
Our impressions from sitting in the C8 are that the comfort and leg space are on a par with the C7, perhaps a bit more legroom. However, as we feared, no interior storage space for even a purse other than between your feet. A little odd not to have a shifter, but no big deal and the metal paddles are a big improvement over the plastic ones in the C7. Also, a nice big info screen, though we didn't see it in action.
Lots of pictures here.

Mid Engine Corvette Development
I just ran across this article from Popular Mechanics that covers some very interesting aspects of the new mid-engine Corvette's development. The very first running prototype was disguised as an Australian Holden ute! Well, the nose was Holden, the cabin was C7 and the bed was tacked on. Yes, that odd black vehicle below is the genesis of the new Corvette. Fascinating article and a good read, but too short. I could read a whole book on this topic; and likely one will be written someday. Enjoy!

Tempe Cars & Coffee 08-03-2019 and a Hertz Z06
Mark and I investigated rumors of a cars & coffee to be held this morning - and it was true! There was a small gathering in the parking lot of the Tempe Marketplace and we were told it's a monthly event with shifting venues. We were the only Corvettes among a mix of European cars, Mustangs, Mopars and a few Harleys. Nice crowd, very low-key event.
We had a way too big breakfast at Lolo's Chicken and Waffles in Scottsdale, the doubled back to the Hertz Auto Sales location where we'd spotted a hertz Z06 for sale on the way to the restaurant. The Z06 is a 2019 with over 17,000 rental miles already. It's all there, we looked inside, outside and under the hood. It has fresh tires but needs a good wax and TLC (and a front splitter). They're asking $84,100 - I think there's better deals than that for a hard-used Z06.
Once we know where the event is for next month, we'll post. Alpio's next week!
