German and Lucy's New Z06

Yes, it's here! I'll get a few more pictures tomorrow, but here's the sneak peek!

Snowbird Report

From John Ulrich in Minnesota:

It was in the 80's today..... rivaling Phoenix!   Great lunch at "Props", a restaurant owned by Mark's "Best Man" and childhood conspirator.  We sat lakeside and listened for the Loons to call to us.  The lunches we had were excellent.  Dave and Melania headed north... all excited about getting the septic tank pumped out.   We headed for dessert....after a stop at a cheese market for some fresh dairy products.   Mark's mom Ellie got her first Corvette ride and we even got her Birthday pie comped by the Norske Nook!  Jane took home the most expensive pie they had on the shelf, so it all worked out!  Great day to celebrate German and Lucy's new Z06.

Events for June 1 - 2

New Corvette event in Litchfield Park. Description below is from Frank on the ACE forum:

June 1
We have organized a Corvettes and Coffee get together out in Litchfield Park. The plan is to meet up the first Saturday of every month. The first one is May 4th. It will be held at Bashas’ grocery store on the NorthEast corner of Dysart Rd and Camelback from 8am until ???  There is a Starbucks inside Bashas and I am told Bashas has great donuts. Would love to everyone show up.

Pavilions Corvette Day - Two full rows for Corvettes at Pavillions on the first Saturday.  Cars start coming in by mid-morning, but it runs to 8:00 pm, so pace yourself. Indian Bend Road and the 101 in Scottsdale.

June 2 - Open

May Weather

It's still great Corvette weather here in Phoenix, not even 90 degrees! Things might be different elsewhere, though - Rainer just sent this picture from Estes Park, Colorado. Looks like you'd need that famous 4WD Corvette over there!

Here's something to remind you of warmer climes, Rainer!

Welcome!

Summertime is here and the Snowbirds have flown the coop - but there's still Corvette news, activity, and fun to be had. This blog's title is inspired by our fearless rally leaders Rainer and Mia whose Jet Guy and Jet Vet license plates are a perfect reflection of our love for these great cars and the fact we spend so much time traveling!

I hear from John U that there's a meet-up in Minnesota next week with Mark M flying up to meet with John and Louise, Jane, Dave J. and others - have fun and send pictures! Of course, that assumes John gets the Corvette back together.

I sold my 2015 Stingray today (sad...) but the new 2019 Z06 should be here soon enough to fill the garage space. It was built on May 13, and the paperwork is done; now we just have to see how long it takes it to get from Bowling Green to Phoenix on a train or truck. I suspect a bit longer than it would take under its own power!

The last Phil's Cruise-In for the season was last Sunday. Attendance was good as the weather has been unusually mild for May (mostly in the 80's for a high). From our group we had Al S., Chris and Debbie E., Roger, and Lucy and myself. Chris, Debbie, Lucy and I made it to Portillo's for hot dogs, Italian sausage, etc. afterwards. Let's do more of that when everyone is back!

Saturday's Cars and Coffee is at Streetside Classics in Mesa for anyone still in town. 614 E Auto Center Dr Suite 101, Mesa, AZ 85204. They always have a good turnout, plus coffee and donuts. If it gets warm you can go inside the huge warehouse full of cars which is cool and fun!

Charles and Suzy joined Lucy and me for the Diamondbacks vs. Giants ballgame last Friday. Not a Corvette in sight, but plenty of fun. We covered baseball and hot dogs, just needed some apple pie and Chevrolets!

Great Drive yesterday through Oak Creek Canyon. Take a look at the video Chris & Debby
