Happy 66th Birthday Corvette!

June 30, 1953 the first Corvettes rolled off the temporary assembly line at a GM facility in Flint Michigan. All 300 1953 models would be built there before the shift to the St. Louis, Missouri plant for the 1954 models. Corvette production remained in St. Louis until halfway into the 1981 model year when it transitioned to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Click here for Motor Trend article.

There''s been plenty of glory from then until now, and Friday we saw the last production front-engine Corvette (a black Z06) auctioned for $2,700,000 by Barrett Jackson. Let's hope the next model can live up to the Corvette's legacy as an affordable, enjoyable, usable sports car for the American road.

Streetside - June 29, 2019

Lots of fun at Streetside yesterday. Chris and Debby came out with their GS as did Rick, Rollie, Dwight with the big Mopar, Tom though he left the killer 82 at home, Monique and Lonnie from ACE, Lucy and myself, and tons of other fun seekers. We returned to Freddy's for a nice lunch and tried not to totally exhaust their supply of Diet Dr. pepper as we did last time. Click here for pictures.

Martin Auto Museum Trip

Last Saturday's trip to the Martin Auto Museum and El Encanto in Cave Creek was a lot of fun for all involved. The trip began with Kevin and Mark meeting in Chandler, then we joined up at Culver's in Scottsdale and Chris and Debby met us at Lamar's Donuts on Bell Road. No pictures of the donuts (sorry, john), but they were incredible!

From there it was a very short drive to the Martin Auto Museum where we saw plenty of Chevrolets and other great cars (click here for pictures). Our next stop was El Encanto in Cave Creek where we had a window seat to the pond and the antics of the turtles, ducks and other critters there - and a great lunch! Finally, Mark and I made it down to Pavillions, but given the hour (heat), the attendance was still thin. See you all next time!

Weekend Events June 22 - 23

The plan for Saturday in the Valley includes donuts, classics and lunch! Meet up at Lamar's Donuts at 2340 W. Bell Road (just East of I-17 at Bell Road) at 9:30. After appropriate nourishment, we'll head up to the Martin Auto Museum at 17641 N Black Canyon Hwy (just up the frontage road from Bell). Once we've filled the eyeballs, it'll be time to fill tummies - Chris and Debbie are selecting a suitable restaurant in the Cave Creek area. If you're in town, come on down!

Saturday afternoon/evening is the Pavillions Cruise-In.
Sunday - nothing yet!

Snowbird Report

From John U.
A few snowbirds were found along the St.Croix river having a picnic.  Larry and Melania were missing from the photo, maybe chasing the two deer that smelled the food!  Again Dave was caught in his Corvette powered SUV.  A pleasant evening to be out!
